The best Pop Culture event on the Central Coast!
Last weekend we participated in the third annual Central Coast Comic Con, organised by the amazing Regional Youth Support Services Inc. (RYSS) and Fixx Events. It was the biggest one yet! Dylan and I are so proud to be apart of this wonderful event for a third time, and look forward to being a supporter for years to come.
The convention has grown leaps and bounds since its inaugural event in 2016, originally held at the Leagues Club in Gosford (which while small, was FANTASTIC!). The first Con, saw a handful of vendors and several hundred people through the door. Last weekend there 30+ niche pop culture merchandisers, food vendors to satisfy any craving, interactive experiences, muscle cars on display, loads of entertainment, incredible cosplayers everywhere and thousands in attendance! It was a fun family friendly event and something the Central Coast should be proud of.
We hosted Free Comic Book Day (as we do every year), and while happy to give comics to already enthusiastic readers, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce comics to kids who had never seen or read a comic before. It was also great to help unsuspecting parents understand how comics work and what might be the best reads for their children. Parents reading this now, if you need any further help in this department, click here to see our blog recommending the best comics for kids.
The Central Coast is our home at heart, and it was great catching up with our awesome and loyal customers. Thank you all for coming to say “Hi!”, and we can’t wait to see you all again. If you missed out this year, be sure to mark next years Con down in your calendar – I am betting its only going to get bigger and better! As we do.
We hope the RYSS sees more support, especially when organising amazing events such as this! They do great work on the Central Coast, providing support services to youths and their families. For more information and to get involved, please visit their website here.
Until next week, be kind, read more and go dancing!
